Starting Pay: $22-28 DOE
Job Overview: Transportation company seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented individual needed to dispatch trucks and ensure all loads are delivered on time every time.
Primary Responsibilities: Receive calls from customers. Works alone and with other dispatchers to ensure loads are delivered. Uses fuel management software to monitor fuel demand. Uses dispatch management software. Takes all overnight calls and resolves any issues as able. If not, then directs call to appropriate on-call resources. Proactively manages and resolves events happening overnight such as accidents, employee injuries and spills. Reports all accidents and incidents to management. Receives paperwork from drivers and reviews to make sure paperwork is correct. Reviews and scans paperwork to corporate office. Electronically reviews Driver’s Daily Logs and works with Safety Advisor to ensure compliance. Helps mechanic maintain/schedule repairs as needed per Driver Inspection Vehicle Reports. Other duties/tasks as assigned as business needs change.
Skills, Knowledge and Training: Ability to plan in detail. strong communication skills. Ability to handle and organize large volume of calls and problems at the same time. Must work well under pressure. Ability to thrive in a constantly changing chaotic environment and consistently meet tight timelines. Ability to coordinate with other trucking dispatchers, customers and drivers. Ability to work as a team member in communicating dispatch to drivers, customers and management. MINIMUM 3 years of experience in dispatch work, preferably for a trucking company. Geographic knowledge of California. Must be proficient with computer and appropriate software. Must be able to use office equipment such as scanners, copiers, and fax machines. Working knowledge of DOT regulations.
Physical Aspects: Requires prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stooping and telephone/radio communications. This position works a rotating 4 days on and 4 days off. Hours may vary according to day of the week.
